Root Canal Surgery (Apicoectomy)

An apicoectomy (root canal surgery), is dental treatment to remove an infection that affects the root of a tooth and adjacent tissues. It’s performed in clinic cases where the endodontic treatment has failed or in teeth where the access to the apex is not possible by a conventional root canal treatment. At first and incision is performed to get access to the root apex. Then the infectious cyst is removed cleaning and irrigating the area and it’s sealing the root with different materials. Finally the area is sutured.
